Thank you for visiting and taking a few minutes to look at my work. I maintain this site just as a place to keep copies of some of my better drawings. So if you get something out of it too, maybe a little inspiration, then that's great. Improvement is not necessarily linear but over time I slowly get closer to my artistic goals. My name is Charlee and I try to draw a little every day.
I have five children, eight grandchildren and recently completed a BA in Fine Arts. I live, very happily, in Perth Western Australia.
I have always had an interest in art and a respect for artists. But I didn't take the opportunity to explore it deeply until I was pushed out of the workforce by chronic illness. Trying to make the best of the situation, I have used the last ten years to work on developing skills and techniques. It is a never ending but pleasant quest
Art, what ever form it assumes, represents a blending of ideas and imagination. Regardless of style or medium a focused dedication to building skills and a willingness to explore is required. I am particularly interested in emphasising the beauty in the ordinary... be it plant or animal, constructed or created. I most often use a traditional or representational style to achieve this end.
I appreciate the simplicity and immediacy of pencil and it has become my media of first choice. I enjoy being totally absorbed in the act of creating, of losing track of time and the almost meditative process of building layers. It is a calm and gentle space to inhabit.
